Dear Kenton County Voter:
Throughout my nineteen years of public service,
as both a State Legislator and a Kenton District
Judge, I have learned that the public expects
their elected officials to work tirelessly to
continue to expand their legal knowledge and to
render decisions with courage and conviction
regardless of consequence.
I
have also learned that you expect your elected
officials to demonstrate principled and reasoned
judgment in both their professional and personal
lives. I have endeavored to exercise these
qualities as a legislator and district judge. I
pledge to uphold those standards as your next
Kenton Circuit Judge. I would be honored to
count you among my supporters in November’s
election.
Sincerely,
Judge Martin Sheehan

for creative sentencing…
Judge Sheehan’s sentence struck the right
balance…”
May 12, 2001
“Judge Sheehan was correct about a compelling
public right to know about
an elected official trusted to handle literally
millions of taxpayer dollars.”
June 12, 1996
Lexington Herald-Leader
“Thanks to Kenton District Judge Martin J.
Sheehan for putting in writing
what other public officials admit privately but
are afraid to say…
Sheehan spent about 100 hours studying the
research and
analyzing the issues – something that the
legislature… did not do.”

Kentucky Post
“Judge Sheehan’s punishment affords these
four
a chance to learn some valuable lessons.”
May 14, 2001
“Like the Judge, society has had its fill of
people who flout the law – whether it’s for
large crimes or small. Sheehan is right to
insist that those who owe pay up…Anything short
of that undermines the law and erodes justice.”
February 1, 2000
“District Judge Martin Sheehan knew that
keeping the charge from
public view was wrong – that it violated basic
American tenents…
We applaud Sheehan for opening this case to
daylight.”
June 5, 1996
“Last week Kenton District Judge Martin
Sheehan ruled that two
juveniles should be tried in adult court…When
repeated attempts at
rehabilitation have failed, there’s nothing else
the juvenile system can do.
It’s time to start punishing the young offenders
as adults.”
November 7, 1995
“Judge Sheehan heard Nicholas Race’s family
say he needed help
as well as punishment….He understood…how every
elderly person in
Covington now has another reason to feel unsafe
in their homes…He did
the right thing in ruling that Nicholas Race
should be tried as an adult.” August 18, 1995
“We commend Judge Sheehan for taking what
could prove to be a
politically unpopular stance….More judges should
follow his example.”
March 13, 1995
“Hats off to Kenton District Judge Martin
Sheehan…
Judge Sheehan has done the right thing.”
